Rebirth Workshop

Do you have any clothes you would like to give new life to? Would you like to learn about natural dyes and the colors that food waste and flowers can create? Do you feel a calling to connect to nature and take a break from the City? 

Join Vida Después for a transformative weekend as Jasmine hosts her first women’s only full-day workshop at her new studio in Catskill’s New York. 

Programming

  • Discovery - Learn about colors and how they are created from various flowers, plants, herbs and food waste. Learn about the indigenous beliefs and spiritual meanings behind the plants and color we use in dying.

  • Nourishment - Prepare lunch together while learning how every day food scraps can be used for dying.

  • Creation - Prepare the garments for dying with your selection of flowers, herbs, plants and food waste gathered throughout the day. Tie the garments off and begin the steaming process.

  • Recharge - As the garments steam we will be recharging ourselves with yoga, breath work, and a nature walk through the property.  

  • Ceremony - Return to the studio to unravel your masterpiece! While garments dry we will host a releasing ceremony which will include sauna session, building a campfire and group sharing time to reflect on the day.

  • Ending - Each person leaves with their finished garment, a personal dye kit, and journal prompts to continue their journey of rebirth. Plus, many new friends!

  • Van transportation from designated pickup location in Manhattan and return transportation. Lunch and camp fire bites. All dying supplies. Take home dying kit.

  • A used garment that you’d like to give new life to. Must be an organic fiber such as silk, cotton, wool or linen. Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. Hiking shoes. Bathing suit for sauna. Warm clothes for the evening. Water bottle.

  • Limited to 10 women. Grants available for those who aren’t able to pay the full amount. To apply, please email us why you’d like to join the Rebirth Workshop. Program schedule will be emailed prior to event date. Full refunds given with four day notice.
